Diagnosis. This species is distinct from all congeners in colour (light brown), lateral margins of pronotum subparallel and supraorbital carina indistinct.
Redescription. Body length: 4.8–5.7 mm.
Body flattened, elongate (ratio max length/max width: 2.53–2.59); colour light brown; body vestiture consisting of very short, recumbent whitish setae; setae sparser and more erect on antennae, dense on club.
Head transverse; eyes protruding with short, squamiform interfacetal setae; supraorbital carina weakly raised, slightly sinuate; supra-antennal carina not raised and edge entire, not indented; angulate protrusion between antennal insertion and eye, visible in lateral view; antennal insertion ventral, just below the edge of supra-antennal carina; antennae 11-segmented with a distinct 3-segmented club; antennomeres I–III subcylindrical, about the same length, decreasing in width from I to III; IV–VIII very short and simple; IX–XI transverse to form a rather compact club.
Pronotum slightly transverse to subquadrate (pronotal length/width: 0.73–1), narrower than elytra, without prominent median process; margins microdenticulate; lateral margins of pronotum subparallel, with one short angulate lobe, directed anteriorly; sculpture as in Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 i.
Elytra at least 1.6 times as long as wide (elytral length/width: 1.64–1.68), with lateral margins straight and smooth; very low and indistinct protuberances on 3rd, 5th and 7th intervals.
Distribution and habitat occurrence. SW Western Australia and N Queensland ( Fig. 12); open forest.
The type specimen was supposedly collected in Cape York. It is very unlikely that the lectotype was collected in North Queensland, as the other 14 specimens available for this species are from South Western Australia. Reitter (1877a) described this species based on material collected by Dr. Dohrn and, since Dohrn collected other new species from Cape York during the same trip, it is possible that this particular specimen was mislabeled.
