1. Anthurium cronembergerae Nadruz & Temponi , sp. nov. ( Figs. 1 , 3 a−d)

Anthurium cronembergerae is similar to A. intermedium Kunth (1841: 70) , from which it differs by the cataphylls straw-like, sulcate petiole with obtuse adaxial margins, primary lateral veins strongly imprinted on the adaxial surface of the leaf and the spathe usually forming a right angle with the peduncle.

Rupicolous herb. Stem erect, internodes 0.4−1.0 cm. Leaf: cataphylls straw-like color, entire to decomposed at the stem apex and decomposed to caducous at the stem base, 2.2−7 cm; petiole smooth, 17−26 × 0.2−0.4 cm, sulcate with obtuse adaxial margins, obtuse abaxially; geniculum smooth, 0.5−1.1 cm; blade nearly erect to perpendicular to the petiole, 16.5−28.7 × 4.3−9.9 cm, elliptic, darker on upper surface, abaxial epidermis smooth, in dry material greenish and membranaceous to slightly chartaceous, apex acute to acuminate, base acute, cuneate to obtuse; midrib adaxially acute, abaxially obtuse, primary lateral veins strongly imprinted on the adaxial surface of the leaf, 9−12 on both sides; basal veins absent; submarginal collective vein 0.3−0.8 cm from margin on each side. Inflorescence with angled, smooth peduncle usually vinaceous at least at the base, 6.2−32.8 × 0.2−0.25 cm; spathe erect at anthesis to reflexed post-anthesis, linear to elliptical, 3.6−7.7 × 0.3–1 cm, forming a right to acute angle at the junction with the peduncle; spadix vinaceous, cylindric to slightly tapered, 3.7−8.7 × 0.3−0.4 cm, sessile to shortly stipitate, stipe 0.1−0.2 cm; principal spiral with 4 flowers; secondary spiral with 5−6 flowers. Immature berries greenish.

Phenology: —Flowers from March to July.

Etymology:— The specific epithet “ cronembergerae ” was given in honor of researcher Cecilia Cronemberger, a leader in research projects carried out in Serra dos Órgãos National Park, Rio de Janeiro, who has dedicated herself to improve the knowledge of the Park flora, including Araceae collections..

Distribution: —Endemic to the municipalities of Guapimirim and Magé, interior of Rio de Janeiro state, occurring on rock outcrops in lower montane rain forest around 450 m elevation.

Conservation:— Anthurium cronembergerae is considered “Vulnerable” according to IUCN (2014), because of its isolated occurrence and small population size, estimated in less than 1,000 mature individuals.
