Type material. Holotype ♂ ( ZMMU), AZERBAIJAN: Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic : Dasharkh Vil., 39°33'N 45°02'E, 870 m, 1– 4.06.2003 (Y.M. Marusik) GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 1♂ ( MMUE), same data as the holotype GoogleMaps ; 1♂ ( ZMMU), AZERBAIJAN: Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: ca 3 km east of Akhura Vil. , 39°34'N 45°11'E, 1400 m, 2.06.2003 (Y.M. Marusik) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the name of the type locality.

Diagnosis. The new species differs from most of its congeners by having short and broad embolus (vs. filamentous). It differs from T. susianus (the only other Trygetus species in the region with known male) by the different shape of RTA (cf. Fig. 9A–B and 9C–D View FIGURE 9 ).

Description. Male. Habitus as in Fig. 5G–H View FIGURE 5 . Total length 2.00. Carapace 0.85 long, 0.58 wide. Eye sizes: AME: 0.08, ALE: 0.04, PLE: 0.04. Carapace, sternum, labium, chelicerae and maxillae light brown. Legs yellowish, without annulations. Abdomen with dorsal and ventral scuta; dorsally grayish and with scattered dark patches, ventrally yellowish. Spinnerets pale, uniform in color. Measurements of legs: I: 2.07 (0.59, 0.21, 0.45, 0.43, 0.39), II: 1.70 (0.44, 0.20, 0.36, 0.35, 0.35), III: 1.60 (0.42, 0.20, 0.30, 0.34, 0.34), IV: 2.27 (0.59, 0.25, 0.48, 0.53, 0.42).

Palp as in Figs 7A–C View FIGURE 7 , 9A–B View FIGURE 9 ; femur 3 times longer than wide, 1.33 times shorter than cymbium; patella almost as long as wide; tibia short, about twice shorter than wide; RTA slightly longer that tibia’s length, bent dorsally, sharply pointed, originating from ventromedial part of tibia; cymbium unmodified, 2 times longer than wide; bulb almost as long as wide; tegular apophysis (Ta) about 1/3 of tegulum’s length, with 3 lobes, claw-like prolateral part, ventral and retrolateral rounded lobes; conductor (Co), if present, indistinct; embolus (Em) broad, originating at a 9 o’clock position and terminating at a 1 o’clock position.

Female. Unknown.

Comments. There is another species of Trygetus described from Azerbaijan, namely T. Jacksoni Marusik & Guseinov, 2003 , which is currently known only based on female ( Marusik & Guseinov 2003). Considering that there is more than 370 km of aerial distance between the type locality of T. nakhchivanicus sp. n. and that of T. Jacksoni (almost the same as between T. susianus and T. cyrus sp. n.), we decided to describe the present material as a new species; still, there is a possibility that the two populations belong to the same species. This matter should be revisited once both sexes are collected together.

Distribution. Known only from two localities in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan.
