Ausanthidium Pasteels, 1969: 60 . Type species: Anthidiellum ausense Mavromoustakis, 1934 View in CoL , original designation.

Diagnosis. Differs from all other subgenera by the combination of eyes naked, preoccipital carina absent laterally, and arolia present on all legs. In females the mandible is four-toothed. This monotypic subgenus is endemic to the Afrotropics.
