Distribution in Iran. Mazandaran ( Farahani et al. 2015).

General distribution. Oriental, Palaearctic. Albania , Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, former Czechoslovakia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Vietnam ( Yu et al. 2012), Belgium ( Wesmael 1838 as Exothecus marginellus ; Shenefelt 1975), England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales ( Broad et al. 2016).

Hosts. Coleoptera—Apionidae: Protapion apricans (Herbst, 1797) ( Yu et al. 2012) . Lepidoptera—Depressariidae: Agonopterix broennoeensis (Strand, 1920) ( Shenefelt 1975) ; A. kaekeritziana (Linnaeus, 1767) ( Yu et al. 2012) . Geometridae : Biston betularia (Linnaeus, 1758) ( Yu et al. 2012) .
