Montina sinuosa ( Lepeletier & Serville, 1825) View in CoL

( Figs. 34–35 View FIGURES 32–37 )

Reduvius sinuosus Lepeletier & Serville (1825: 277) (original description).

Montina sinuosa: Amyot & Serville (1843: 363) View in CoL (redescription), Stål (1859: 197; 1872: 73) (citation; catalog), Walker (1873: 91) (catalog), Lethierry & Severin (1896: 195) (catalog), Maldonado (1990: 235) (catalog).

Montina sinuosus: Wygodzinsky (1949: 41) (catalog).

New record: Ecuador.

The specimen examined here ( Figs. 34–35 View FIGURES 32–37 ) generally agrees well with the short description ( Lepeletier & Serville 1825) and redescription of the species ( Amyot & Serville 1843). However, these authors provided different measurements for this species, without mentioning the sex of their examined specimens. Lepeletier & Serville (1825) mentioned the length of 12 to 14 lines (“lig.”) (approximately 27 to 31.6 mm; taking into account that the “ligne” in France was equivalent to 0.0888 inches; 2,2552 mm), and Amyot & Serville (1843) 24 mm (“Long. 0,024”). The total length of the female from Ecuador ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 32–37 ) to the tip of abdomen and hemelytra measured 23 and 27 mm, respectively, which is in accordance with the measurements recorded by the previous authors for this species.
