Oberea flavipennis Kurihara & Ohbayashi, 2007

Comments. Breuning (1950d) described Oberea nigriceps m. flavipennis from Taiwan, then listed it as Oberea . nigriceps v. flavipennis ( Breuning 1962) . In both cases the name referred unambiguously to an infrasubspecific entity, and remained therefore unavailable ( ICZN 1999: Art. 1.3.4). Kurihara and Ohbayashi (2007: 202) upgraded this entity to species level and named it “ Oberea flavipennis Breuning, 1950 ”. However, as that name was unavailable, they became its authors ( ICZN 1999: Art. 45.5.1) and it must be cited as Oberea flavipennis Kurihara and Ohbayashi, 2007 ( Kurihara & Ohbayashi, 2008) .
