97. Poecilobothrus bigoti Mik, 1883 (Dolichopodinae) — new to Portugal

Number of specimens recorded. 2.

Distribution. Thus far only recorded in Europe from France, Spain and Romania. Portugal: one province (Estremadura).

Ecology. The only site where this species has been discovered was a marshland with Phragmites australis , Typha latifolia and several Cyperaceae . Among the most common trees in the area were Salix spp. , Alnus glutinosa , Fraxinus angustifolia , Populus nigra and Quercus spp. Its ecology in the rest of Europe is unknown.

Rarity (%). 1.1 (very rare).

Activity period. July.
