Genus Rheumatogonus Kirkaldy
The genus Rheumatogonus in Southeast Asia was revised by Chen & Nieser (2002) and nine species were recognized. Similar to other members of Ptilomerinae , males and females can be identified based on genitalic structure and non-genitalic characters, respectively (Chen & Nieser 2002). However, accurate identification requires male specimens. This genus is distributed in the tropical forests of the Oriental Region and prefers slow reaches of montane streams in forested areas ( Andersen 1982, Chen & Zettel 1998, Chen & Nieser 2002). Members of this genus in Thailand are yellowish green in color when they are alive, but become yellowish brown in alcohol or exposure to light. Two species have been reported from Thailand (Chen & Nieser 2002), both of which were collected in the Tennaserim Mountain Range.
