Euplocania guticortesorum n. sp. Male
( Figs 1–6 View FIGURES 1–6 )
Diagnosis. Related to E. uariniensis , differing from it by the shape of the anterior margin of the mesal endophallic sclerite, by the posterior median processes of the central sclerite of the hypandrium ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–6 ), which are more widened distally and by presenting the anterior endophallic sclerites larger ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–6 ).
Color (in 80% ethanol). Head brown, with pattern of dark spots like a mask in vertex and frontal area; dark brown compounds eyes; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; anteclypeus, clypeus and labrum brown, postclypeus with converging diagonal ochre bands; genae dark brown to ochre. Maxillary palps pale brown. Legs: Coxae with brown spot; trochanters, femora and tarsi 1 light brown, tarsi 2–3 brown. Forewings as in group diagnosis ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 ), veins brown, with brown spots on vein ends; pterostigma pale brown, proximally paler. Hindwing as in group diagnosis ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–6 ), veins brown. Hypandrium brown. Epiproct and paraprocts light brown.
Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–6 ): H/MxW: 1.55; compound eyes large, H/D: 2.48; IO/MxW: 0.72. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with seven denticles; Mx4/Mx2: 1.26. Forewings ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 ): L/W: 2.55. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 5.71, areola postica high and wide, apex rounded: al/ah: 1.70. Hindwings ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–6 ): l/w: 2.87. Central sclerite of the hypandrium as in diagnosis of the group ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7–11 ), anterior margin convex; basal section slightly wider than long, postero-lateral angle with short rounded processes, with several macrosetae. Phallosome ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–6 ): side struts U-shaped; external parameres narrow, with pores; anterior pair of endophallic sclerites transverse, with ends converging mesally, posterior margin with several pointed teeth; lateral pair laminar, apically somewhat truncate, with short process as illustrated; mesal sclerite inverted U shaped, central anterior area less sclerotized, usually with medially concave anterior margin ( Figs 12, 14, 15 View FIGURES 12–15 ), postero-mesal sclerites elongate, narrow, distally acuminate, each connected to the external parameres ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Variations in the shape of this endophallic sclerite are presented in Figures 12–15 View FIGURES 12–15 . Paraprocts ovoid ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–6 ), with a dense field of setae and macrosetae distally, an apically spatulate macrosetae near the inner margin; sensory fields with 34–36 trichobothrias on basal rosettes. Epiproct ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–6 ) semioval, with two lateral macrosetae, basal field with three setae and microsetae, other setae and microsetae scattered in the distal field, as illustrated.
