RECONCAVONA Krömmelbein, 1962

Type Species: Candona View in CoL ? striatula Swain, 1946

Diagnosis: A genus of the Candoninae ? with the following distinctive features: carapace in lateral view beanshaped. Ventral margin fairly strongly concavely indented approximately in the centre; the lower part of the anterior margin fairly strongly drawn forward. Dorsal margin in general curved in distinctly convex fashion. Left valve always larger than right valve. Some species with a smooth carapace surface, without any sculpture, however the majority of species with striking variable [in individual cases] nodes, individual spines, striation sculptures or hookshaped bending round of the posterior margin of the larger left valve. As for the interior valve characteristics (the construction of the hinge, the free valve margins and the muscle scars) no observations are available.
