Subgenus Notocorethrella Belkin View in CoL

Notocorethrella Belkin 1968:110 (as subgenus). Type species: Corethrella novaezealandiae Tonnoir , by original designation.

This subgenus includes only the single extant species C. novaezealandiae and may be distinguished from all other extant species by the presence of each of the following features: anterior anepisternum divided dorsomedially ( Fig. 36A), fifth tarsomeres without empodia (Fig. 75B), foreleg claws of male equal, fore- and midleg claws each with a tooth (Fig. 75B), anterior fore- and midleg claws of male each with a basal prong (Fig. 75B), gonocoxite with 5–6 stout setae grouped near apex on apicomedial surface (Fig. 83A) (lacking dorsal row of setae and stout dorsomedial seta). These features are further discussed under “Phylogenetic Implications for the Use of Subgeneric Names in Corethrella ”.
