Paithrips Nonaka & Jangvitaya View in CoL
The genus Paithrips belongs to the Trichromothrips genus-group and shares the following characters: dorsal apical setae present on antennal segment I, bulged compound eyes, and head more or less constricted behind eyes. The genus was diagnosed and well-illustrated ( Nonaka & Jangvitaya 1994), and included in a key to 13 genera of the Trichomothrips genus-group ( Masumoto & Okajima 2005). Only two species of Paithrips are known, and these can be distinguished as follows: P. circularis Nonaka & Jangvitaya has the anterior margin of the pronotum straight, the pronotal anterior marginal setae equal to the discal setae, and ocellar setae pair III longer than pair II. P. pornthipae Masumoto & Okajima has the anterior margin of the pronotum concave, with the anterior marginal setae longer than the discal setae, and ocellar setae III shorter than setae II ( Masumoto & Okajima 2012).
