Type species — Astynomus tenebrosus Bates, 1881 View in CoL (original designation).
Diagnosis. Prothorax with a strong tubercle placed each side at the middle; elytra granularly asperate, each elytron bearing a setose centrobasal crest; apical ventrite produced into rather elongate ovipositor. Number of species currently included: 1 (Central America ).
