This species was originally described from Chalakudi (Kerala) based on 2 macropterous females and 4 brachypterous males, 5.xii.1963, from bamboo spindles.
Material studied. India, Chalakudi (Kerala), 5.xii.1963, Lectotype female from bamboo (TNA 157), Reg. No. 5537/H17 (NZC, ZSI Kolkata); Palghat (Kerala), 17.ii.1967, Lectotype female of Xenothrips luteus from grass, TNA, Reg. No. 5538/H17 (NZC, ZSI Kolkata).
Distribution. India (Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu).
