Austroblechnum Gasper & V.A.O.Dittrich, Phytotaxa View in CoL 275(3): 202. 2016.
Species of Austroblechnum have strongly dimorphic blades, creeping or usually erect, sometimes stoloniferous rhizomes ( A. penna-marina ), broadly adnate sterile pinnae, proximal pinnae gradually to sometimes abruptly reduced, and concolorous rhizome scales ( Rolleri & Prada 2006b). A group of about 37 species, of circum-Antarctic distribution in New Zealand and surrounding islands, Australia, southern Africa, and southern South America north to Mexico and the Antilles. We recognize seven species for Bolivia, mainly from mid to high elevation rain forests.
