Scina crassicornis (Fabricius, 1775) View in CoL
Southwest Atlantic: 1090370, 4/141, [59.975°S 65.092°W], 915 m; 1090430, 9/670, [50.475°S 35.033°W], 1565 m. Southeast Pacific: 1090446, 10/835, [61.967°S 75.267°W], 915 m.
Remarks: This is a relatively common species found in all the world’s oceans, including the Mediterranean Sea. It seems to prefer tropical and temperate regions but sometimes penetrates the cold waters of the Arctic and Antarctic. It is most common in the upper 500 m ( Vinogradov et al. 1982 /96). The only records from Antarctic waters are those of Wagler (1927) from the Western Indian Ocean Sector, near the West Ice Shelf and Davis Sea. Thus, the above are new records for the Antarctic Zone of the Southwest Atlantic and Southeast Pacific Sectors.
