Southwest Pacific: 1090452, 11/901, [62.258°S 114.717°W], 3477–3678 m.

Remarks: A relatively common species known from scattered records, mainly from tropical regions of all the world’s oceans, including the Mediterranean Sea. It seems to be most common in near-surface waters (0–200 m). There are only two previous records from the Southern Ocean, from the Western Indian Ocean Sector, off the West Ice Shelf ( Wagler 1927) and from the Southwest Atlantic Sector, south-east of Elephant Island ( Jażdżewski & Presler 1988). This species was relatively common in the collections of the USNM, providing several additional records for the Antarctic Zone of the Southwest Atlantic Sector and new records for the Pacific Sectors.
