Amphelictus novellus and A. fuscipennis were described from Valle, Colombia. The comparison of the original description and figures of the holotype (male) and the allotype of A. fuscipennis with the male holotype of A. novellus allow us to propose the new synonymy.

Specimens examined. COLOMBIA, Valle del Cauca: “Lower" Achicayá, 400m (tropical very wet forest), male, 5.III.1973, R. Wilkerson leg. (holotype of A. novellus , MNRJ); Cali, male, 13.VI.1969 (MNRJ). Geographical distribution. Colombia.
