Type material. Holotype ɗ ( MNHN): KENYA - labeled “Kakamega equatorial forest, 11.x.2002, S. Prigent”.

Etymology. A combination of the Latin words: curvus and spina, referring to the epandrium with 1 hooklike spine on anteroventral corner.

Diagnosis. Epandrium with 1 hook-like spine on anteroventral corner ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ); paramere apically with 1 small sclerotized projection ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ); aedeagal median rod strongly sclerotized, slender on basal half, expanded on distal half ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ); vertical process of gonopods strongly sclerotized, deeply, nearly symmetrically bifurcated from median ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ).

Description. Male: Eyes brown. Ocellar triangle brown to black. Frons brown on upper 1/2, black on lower 1/2, with thick dense setae medially. Fronto-orbital plate silvery white. Pedicel and first flagellomere almost yellow; arista apically expanded, without ventral branches ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ). Face yellow-brown on upper 1/2, dark brown on lower 1/2. Clypeus medially white-yellow, laterally black. Gena and postgena brown to dark brown. Palpus brown basally, grey-yellow distally. Thorax and scutellum orange-brown, with black patches and pollinose pattern. Legs yellow except for fore femur brownish; fore tarsomere V lacking long setae apically. Abdominal tergites I+II yellow, the rest brown. Sternites III to VI slightly longer than respective width. Male terminalia: Epandrium mid-dorsally constricted, laterally broadened, with dense setae along ventral to posterior margins ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ). Surstylus with numerous setae and 5 prensisetae on apical margin ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ). Paramere basally with 4 sensilla ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 27 – 29 ).
