The karyotype of E. cyanostictus , tribe Eretmodini , endemic to Lake Tanganyika, is composed of 2n = 46 chromosomes including 10 m /sm and 36 st/t (FN = 56) (Tab. I). The first metacentric pair is not much bigger than the other chromosome pairs. The 18S rRNA genes are located on the short arms of a small acrocentric pair ( Fig. 2 View Figure 2 ).
