Diagnosis. Carapid lacking pelvic rays, rockerbone, cardiform teeth, and tunic ridges on swimbladder; dorsal fin origin anterior to anal fin origin; swimbladder small, not filling visceral cavity and not reaching past anus; pectoral fin-rays 24-27; precaudal vertebrae 13–15.
