Type. COLOMBIA. ♀ holotype, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (11°14’10”N; 74°12’6”W), Sierra Cinai, Magdalena, 26.IV.1975, J. A. Kochalka leg. deposited in AMNH, examined). GoogleMaps
Diagnosis. Females of Striamea magna differ from those of S. gertschi in being 2–3 times larger and they have a rounded and voluminous spermathecae with inconspicuous duct ( Fig. 38B View FIGURE 38 ). Males are unknown.
Redescription. Female Holotype. Color: Chelicerae dark brown. Carapace with 6–7 spotted streaks, dark brown, interleaved with 6–7 spotted streaks light brown, abdomen in dorsal view brown, without ornamentation. Carapace and abdomen in ventral view brown. Total length 8.98. Carapace 3.38 long, 3.32 wide. Abdomen 5.60 long. Fovea 0.15. Clypeus 0.09. Ocular tubercle 0.47 long, 0.66 wide. Eyes: eight, posterior row strongly recurved ( Fig. 38A View FIGURE 38 ). AME 0.06, ALE 0.25, PME 0.14, PLE 0.25. Basal segment of chelicerae with 8 big teeth prolaterally and 10 smaller mesobasal teeth, with 4 smaller teeth. Labium 0.40 long, 0.83 wide. Sternum 1.75 wide, 2.18 long. Palp: femur 2.20/ patella 1.20/ tibia 1.64/ tarsus 1.52/ total 6.56; Legs I: femur 3.40/ patella 1.88/ tibia 2.80/ metatarsus 2.52/ tarsus 1.62/ total 12.22; II: 3.00/ 1.60/ 1.92/ 2.00/ 1.32/ 9.84; III: 2.72/ 1.48/ 1.88/ 2.16/ 1.20/ 9.44; IV: 3.52/ 1.72/ 3.04/ 2.96/ 1.40/ 12.64; Leg formula 4123. Spination: see Raven 1981. Palpal claw with 14 teeth. Spermathecae unilobed, dome-shaped. Glandular region little evident ( Fig. 38B View FIGURE 38 ). PLS: basal, medial and apical, 1.32, 0.84, 1.08 long.
Distribution. Known only from type locality in Colombia ( Fig. 39 View FIGURE 39 ).
