Ponerorchis puberula (King & Pantl.) Verm., Jahresber. Naturwiss. Vereins Wuppertal View in CoL 25: 30, 1972
Basionym: Orchis puberula King & Pantl., Ann. Roy. Bot. Gard. (Calcutta) View in CoL 8: 304, 1898.
Homotypic synonyms: Amitostigma puberulum (King & Pantl.) Tang & F.T.Wang, Bull. Fan Mem. Inst. Biol., Bot. View in CoL 7: 6, 1936. Chusua View in CoL puberula (King & Pantl.) N.Pearce & P.J.Cribb, Fl. View in CoL Bhutan 3 (3): 136, 2002.
Specimen examined:— KACHIN. Putao District: Kingdon-Ward 9826 ( BM), fide Aung et al. (2020: 100); same loc., 3260 m, 27 Jun 1953, Kingdon-Ward 21064 p.p. ( BM) .
Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas and northern Myanmar.
Notes:— The BM herbarium database says that both FKW 9826 & 21064 have been identified as belonging to this species, but does not indicate by whom. Although we have not seen the former, plants of the latter are firmly glued to the sheet and could not be examined. Superficially, they are a good match with the isotype at Kew (Pantling 478). The general flower structure, shape of the prominently puberulous lip and strongly keeled sepals are in support of this identification, but column details have not been seen by us. Nevertheless, the only weakly puberulous sepals are unusual for this species. Two plants of a different orchid (? Herminium ) are also glued to this sheet.
