Basionym : Saccolabium fragrans C.S.P.Parish & Rchb. View in CoL f., J . Bot. 12: 197, 1874. Type :— MYANMAR. Mon State : Mawlamyine District, Parish 345 (holotype: W-R 19062 ; isotype: K; icon. K) .
Homotypic synonym: Gastrochilus fragrans View in CoL (C.S.P.Parish & Rchb.f.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 661, 1891.
Specimens examined:—? MYANMAR. 1878, Berkeley 12 ( K). UPPER MYANMAR. Cult. RBG Kew s.n. ( K); same loc., Apr 1912, cult. Peeters s.n. ( K). MON. Mawlamyine District : type. Also reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 88), but we have not seen material from this area .
Distribution:— Northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand and Laos.
Note:— The number of the original collection cited by Parish (1883: 199) is 349 but Seidenfaden (1988: 69) found it to be 345.
