Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Putao District: 915−1065 m, 30 Apr 1926, Kingdon-Ward 6667 ( K); same loc., 1220 m, 5 May 1926, Kingdon-Ward 6686 ( K) .

Notes:— The two collections cited above are kept under the name L. sikkimensis at Kew but are clearly different and belong in the L. japonica Blume-group ( Seidenfaden 1978a: 125). Seidenfaden pointed out that establishing these plants as a new species needs to be part of a much needed revision of this genus, with which we agree.
