Pujoliclerus flavoapicalus Opitz , new species ( Figs. 29 View Figs , 58 View Figs , 101 View Figs , 124 View Fig )
Holotype. ♀. Brazil: Rondonia: 62 km SE Ariquemes , 7-18-Nov-1995, W.J. Hanson ( FSCA).
Diagnosis. This species is distinguishable from its congeners by the quadrate shape of the sixth antennomere.
Description. Size: Length 7.0 mm; width 2.0 mm. Form: As in Fig. 101 View Figs . Integument: Head mostly yellow, upper frons and epicranium with black; antenna mostly brown, last antennomere yellow; pronotal disc black, lower edges infuscated, remainder reddish yellow; elytra predominantly brown, epipleural margin slightly yellow posteriorly, apex yellow; legs mostly yellow, anterior margin infuscated; pterothorax and abdomen brown. Head: Eyes as wide as frons (16:16); funicular antennomeres considerably expanded, 6 th antennomere quadrate and very large ( Fig. 29 View Figs ). Thorax: Pronotum transverse (47:42), lateral tubercle very prominent ( Fig. 58 View Figs ); epipleural fold gradually diminishing to elytral apex; asetiferous punctures prominent in anterior elytral half. Abdomen: Aedeagus not available.
Natural History. The type was collected during November.
Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Brazil ( Fig. 124 View Fig ).
Etymology. The specific epithet is a Latin compound name that stems from flavus (= yellow)
and apex (= tip) and refers to the yellow tip of the antenna.
