Neochauliodes acutatus Liu & Yang View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 10 , 11–13 View FIGURES 11 – 13 )
Diagnosis. Head mostly pale brown. Thorax entirely black. Wings dark with small hyaline marks mostly toward apex. Apex of aedeagus pointed and acute in lateral view.
Description. Forewing length 30–33 mm, hindwing length 27–30 mm.
Head pale brown, with vertex tinged orange on middle and lateral sides. Compound eyes dark, ocelli yellow with black inner margin. Antenna dark. Mouthparts dark; mandible with apical half pale brown.
Thorax entirely black. Legs dark with short, dense, yellowish brown setae; tarsal claws reddish brown. Wings dark; pterostigma indistinct. Forewing respectively with three to four hyaline cells at base and at middle of costal area; apex with two small hyaline marks near M and several subhyaline marks. Hindwing with costal area entirely dark, and respectively with three hyaline marks near basal and apical 1/3; apical margin with several subhyaline marks. Veins dark. Rs 5branched, R2 apically 3branched, R3 and R4 curved backward at tip; three crossveins between R1 and Rs; M 2branched; 1A 2branched.
Abdomen dark. Male tenth tergum ( Figs. 11, 13 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) in lateral view subquadrate; in dorsal view its apex inflated. Aedeagus ( Figs. 11–12 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) strongly sclerotized, in ventral view subtrapezoidal with apical margin shallowly incised; in lateral view slender with tip acute.
Type materials. Holotype ɗ, CHINA: Guangxi, Jinxiu, Fenzhan, 800 m, 13.V.1999, Xingke Yang ( IZCAS). Paratype 1 ɗ, CHINA: same data as for holotype, Hui Xiao ( IZCAS).
Distribution. China (Guangxi).
Etymology. The specific epithet acutatus refers to the acute tip of the aedeagus.
Remarks. The new species is similar to N. fuscus sp. nov. from Guangxi and N. obscurus Weele from India in having wings almost entirely dark, but can be easily separated from N. fuscus by the black prothorax and acute tip of the aedeagus, and from N. obscurus by R3 and R4 which are curved backward at tip. In N. fuscus sp. nov., the prothorax is entirely yellow and the tip of aedeagus is blunt in lateral view. In N. obscurus , the Rs are nearly straight without any branch curved backward.
