Araucanioperla eggs

Hemispherical shape dimensions: diameter 180–200 µm, height 120–140 µm. With two different poles, the micropylar pole is a hemispheric capsule sclerotized with polygonal follicular cells, at the apex two micropyles ( Figs. 6a, d ). An equatorial membrane expands as a striated ring, with a row of scales towards the micropylar pole ( Figs. 6b, e ). The hemisphere opposite the micropylar pole is soft, slightly sclerotized and without follicular impressions ( Figs. 6c, f ).

The two species are similar in the form of the eggs but can be distinguished by the pattern of the follicular cells.

In A. brincki the follicular cells are less deep and have wider walls than in A. bullocki .
