Types. Holotype, female, from Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Ktze. ( Theaceae ), Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, China, 26°06'04N, 119°17'09E, October 27, 2005, collected by Zi-Wei Song and Xiao-Feng Xue. Paratypes, 17 females, with the same data as holotype.
Relation to host. Mites are vagrant on the undersurface of leaves, causing no apparent damage.
Etymology. The specific designation camelliae is from the generic name of the host plant, Camellia .
Remarks. This species is similar to Shevtchenkella philadelphi ( Keifer), 1961 , but can be differentiated by tarsal empodium 7-rayed and tarsal solenidion rodlike (tarsal empodium 4-rayed and tarsal solenidion knobbed in S. philadelphi ); ventral annuli with tapered microtubercles (ventral annuli with bead-like microtubercles in S. philadelphi ); accessory setae distinct, 3 long (accessory setae minute in S. philadelphi ).
