Drimia stenocarpa clearly belongs to Litanthus Harvey (1844: 314) based on the 1(2)-flowered inflorescence terminated by a pair of subopposite bracts subtending a distinctive, cylindrical, pendulous flower with a well-developed perigone tube (at least twice as long as the tepal lobes) on and the prolongation of the anther connective into a small, translucent, membranous flap (cf. Manning et al. 2014). This placement is corroborated by the title of the latter article “A review of the Litanthus group of Drimia Jacq. ” Therefore, a new combination is needed to accommodate this new species in Litanthus .
