Zahniserius gen. n.

Type species: Zahniserius cylindricus sp. n.

Description. Small leafhoppers. Yellowish green. Head slightly wider than pronotum, anterior margin of head angularly rounded to face. Ocelli on anterior margin of head close to eyes. Pronotum without lateral carina. Forewings submacropterous, appendix absent, reaching sub-apex of abdomen. Hindwings reduced. Profemur with setal row AV with 3 basal macrostae of similar length; IC row with 5–6 setae, first seta longer, AM1 seta short, AM2 longer and reatively near ventral margin adjacent IC row ( Fig. 4 D). Protibia setal dorsal formula 1+3 ( Fig. 4 B). Hind femur setal formula 2+2 ( Fig. 4 A). Hind tibia setal row AD with approximately 9 macrosetae and 1–4 short fine intercalary setae between stout setae in distal half; row PD with approximately 12 macrosetae of similar length ( Fig. 4 C).

Male pygofer side posterior margin convex with several macrosetae. Valve triangular. Subgenital plate triangular, lateral margin with row of macrosetae. Style apophysis short, robust. Connective robust. Aedeagal shaft cylindrical, robust, hinged at base.

First valvula dorsal sculpturing maculose to granulose and submarginal (Plate II: F & G). Second valvula abruptly broadening approximately 0.5 from base and remaining dorsal margin with distinct obliquely triangular serrated teeth (Plate II: H & I).

Remarks. The new genus differs from Doraturopsis in having the head broader than the pronotum, and from other Chiasmini by the following combination of characters: pronotum without lateral carina, forewings submacropterous, male pygofer side with posterior margin broadly convex with few macrosetae, subgenital plate apically narrow with lateral row of macrosetae and style apophysis short and robust.

Etymology. This genus is named after J. N. Zahniser, who has made excellent contributions to the taxonomy of Chiasmini.
