Diagnosis. Prescutum black with three brownish yellow stripes, median one reaching 2/3 length of prescutum. Femora brownish yellow with two black rings, first at 3/4 length of femora, second at tip, narrower than subapical yellow ring. Wing brownish hyaline, with dark brown spots at base of cell R, origin and fork of Rs and each side of stigma. Paramere with stem strongly sinuous, tip of paramere cuspidate, with some short hairs.
Description. Male. Body length 16.0 mm, wing 18.0 mm.
Head. Black except posterior part yellowish brown. One small median tubercle between eyes. Hairs on head black. Antenna 2.3 mm. Scape brownish yellow except dorsal surface brown, pedicel brownish yellow, flagellomeres black, suboval to subcylindrical, apical segments elongate, verticils considerably longer than segments. Proboscis and palpus black with black hairs.
Thorax. General black. Pronotum black with one broad brownish yellow stripe. Prescutum black with three brownish yellow stripes, median one reaching 2/3 length of prescutum. Scutum black. Scutellum black except median area brownish yellow. Mediotergite black on anterior half, gradually brown on posterior half. Pleura black except metanepisternum brownish yellow. Hairs on thorax brown. Coxae yellowish brown, darker at base; trochanters yellowish brown with inner tips black; femora brownish yellow with two black rings, first at 3/4 length of femora, second at tip, narrower than subapical yellow ring; tibiae brownish yellow with tip black; tarsi brown. Hairs on legs black.
Wing ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 7 ) brownish hyaline, with dark brown spots at base of cell R, origin and fork of Rs and each side of stigma; seams along crossveins r-m, m-m, m-cu and basal sections of cells M1+2 and M3; obscure brownish irregular clouds in all marginal cells, arranged in transverse band before apex of wing; stigma yellowish. Sc1 longer than Sc2, R2 arcuate, longer than terminal section of R1, m-cu before fork of M. Halter 2.1 mm long, brownish yellow except base of knob brown.
Abdomen. Tergites 1–6 black with lateral area brownish yellow; tergites 7–9 black. Sternites 1–4 brownish yellow, sternites 5–9 black with posterior margin brownish yellow. Hairs on abdomen black.
Hypopygium ( Figs. 16–19 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ). Posterior margin of tergite 9 ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ) emarginate, each lobe with several hairs. Gonocoxite with broad ventromesal lobe. Outer gonostylus ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ) arched, gradually narrowing to apex. Inner gonostylus ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ) divided into three lobes, innermost lobe long and slender, with short hairs at inner margin; dorsal fleshy lobe subteres with long hairs; ventral fleshy lobe subglobular with long hairs. Paramere ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 16 – 19 ) with stem strongly sinuous, tip of paramere cuspidate, with some short hairs.
Female. Body length 13.0– 15.9 mm, wing 14.5–18.0 mm. Similar to male.
Specimens examined. 1 male, 1 female, Hebei: Pingquan, Guangtou mountain (1200 m), 41°18΄11ʺN 118°27΄0 7ʺE, 1986. VII. 3, Ding Yang. 1 female, Henan: Neixiang, Baotianman (1400 m), 33°16΄44ʺN 112°0 9΄11ʺE, 2008. VIII. 10 (Light trap), Ding Yang.
Distribution. China (Hebei, Henan); Nearctic; West Palaearctic; East Palaearctic. First record for China.
