Family Hydrophilidae :

The family Hydrophilidae is represented in India by 260 species (including subspecies) belonging to 44 genera and five subfamilies, Hydrophilinae (109 species), Chaetarthriinae (14 species), Enochrinae (14 species), Acidocerinae (45 species), and Sphaeridiinae (78 species) ( Table 2 ). Laccobius Erichson (50) is the most species–rich genus, followed by Agraphydrus Régimbart (32), Cercyon Leach (17), Coelostoma Brullé (13), Berosus Leach (12), Helochares Mulsant (11), Enochrus Thomson (11), Hydrophilus Geoffroy (ten) and Sphaeridium Fabricius (nine) ( Table 2 ).
