Hylaeus (Hylaeus) dorni Dathe, 1986 View in CoL
Figs 2–5 View FIGURES 2 – 5
Hylaeus dorni Dathe, 1986: 294 View in CoL , ♂ (type locality: Mongolia). Holotype in ZNSH.
Material examined. Tyva Republic: 6 ♀, 3 ♂, 27 km SSW Erzin, Tore-Khol Lake, 30.VI–3.VII.2013, MYP, VML ( IBSS); 4 ♀, 11–12.VII.2014, ASL, MYP, VML ( IBSS).
Remarks. Hylaeus dorni was described from males only ( Dathe 1986). Recently, material became available containing males and females found at the same locality, thus making possible the description of the hitherto unknown female.
Diagnosis. The female of this species is readily recognisable by its shiny integument with white markings. The rounded propodeum is finely sculptured and matt, particularly laterally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ); the basal area is not demarcated, with finely reticulate corrugations only anteriorly. The depressions on the metasoma are paler than their surroundings and have a conspicuous border of cilia.
Description. Female. Measurements (n=10): total length 4.5–5.3 (4.91) mm, wing length 3.4–4.1 (3.67) mm. Head proportions HL:HW 0.98, UHW:LHW 1.43, outline transverse trapezoidal. Scapi black, flagella short, the flagellomeres appearing ringed: basally blackish, apically yellow. Face with white lateral spots on the orbits, elliptical in shape or apically acutely produced to the foveae. Foveae faciales prolonged, reaching lower vertex parts. Clypeus CL:CW 1.33, longitudinally striate, matt, punctation indistinct, anteriorly with a row of shallow pits; supraclypeal area separated from clypeus by an indistinct furrow, upper part narrowly parallel-sided, little elevated above the outline profile, with gradual transition to the frons. Frons and vertex smooth and shiny, with dense, moderate punctation. Genae striate and punctate; occiput partly edged; malae narrow. Labrum black, shiny, bifid mandibles with black apex. Mesosoma compact, rounded; pilosity inconspicuous, with short and sparse white hairs. Coloration black, pronotum laterally with two white stripes, tegulae and calli with a white spot each. Pronotum bulging expanded forward, dorsolateral angles rounded. Mesonotum ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ) and scutellum smooth and shiny, punctation moderate, close; metanotum shallowly and more finely punctate, laterally with white hair tufts; mesopleurae finely shagreen, silky shiny, with similar punctation as mesonotum, anterior margin rounded; mesosternum impressed. Legs black, only bases of tibiae and basitarsi white, tarsi brown; wings hyaline, venation brown. Propodeum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ) rounded, surface of lateral parts finely shagreen, matt; basal area without posterior delimitation, only at its base with short wrinkles; terminal area along its central furrow with smooth and shiny portions. Metasoma spindle-shaped; coloration black, with depressions of terga and sterna paler (brownish to transparent). Sculpture of T1 ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ) extremely finely chagreen, smooth and shiny, with scattered, fine punctation, distally denser; following terga shagreen, with dense shallow punctation; terga without lateral fringes; depressions covered with sparse patches of cilia; fringe of last sternum bright.
