TYPE DEPOSITORY: of B. mali : not stated; of L. (P.) bakeri : United States National Museum, Washington DC, USA.
TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: of B. mali: Amsterdam, Wageningen, Arnhem , The Netherlands, on bark of Pyrus malus [Plantae: Rosaceae ]; of L. (P.) bakeri : intercepted at Los Angeles, California, USA, on dried prunes and peaches [Plantae: Rosaceae ] imported from Santiago, Chile.
NOTES: (a) based on the original descriptions of T. mali and of L. (P.) bakeri, Chant (1963: 302) disagreed with Athias-Henriot (1959: 163) about the synonymy of those species. A re-examination of the types by Haines (1979: 27) lead him to decide on the synonymy of these species. (b) Lindquist (1964a: 206; 1964b: 3895); Hughes (1976: 333) and Farrier & Hennessey (1993: 30) considered B. daci to be a junior synonym of B. mali . We adopted the interpretation of Haines (1979: 28), considering them to be distinct species.
