Material examined. MNHN 2002.0436 (male; SVL 472 mm, TaL 116 mm; bad condition), Mts. Tigapulan, Province of Riau, elev. 210 m.
Taxonomic comments. A typical specimen of this species as described in Tweedie (1983). The pale postocular streaks on the edges of the head are well visible.
Scalation: DSR 19-17-15; VEN 218; Sc 79; SL 9/9; anal single; no loreal; PreOc 1/1; PosOc 2/2; Tem 2+2+2 / 2+2+2; IL 11/11.
Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Jambi (first record in this work) and Sumatera Utara ( David & Vogel, 1996).
Biology. This specimen was found in November. It was dead on a road that crossed part of a large tract of primary forest that had been destroyed by fire. The whole tract would eventually be destroyed. Several species were collected next to this remnants of forest very recently destroyed, some parts of which were still smoking. It might suggest a wide wandering of the surviving specimens.
