MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Philippines. ESTASE 2: stn CP 4, 06°08’N, 125°58’E, 2800 m, 2 dd GoogleMaps .
DISTRIBUTION. — The two specimens examined collected in the Philippines (Fig. 27), in 2800 m .
FIG. 26. Shell morphology of species of Bullina Férussac, 1822 . A, Bullina rubropunctata n. sp., holotype MNHN 20332 (8 mm), ventral view, BORDAU 2 stn DW 1601; B, protoconch of paratype MNHN 20333, New Caledonia, PALEO-SURPRISE stn DW 1391, scale bar = 500 Μm; C, sculpture of the same shell, scale bar = 200 Μm. D, E, Bullina sp. D , (8 mm), ventral view, Philippines, ESTASE 2 stn CP 4; E, same shell, sculpture, scale bar = 100 Μm.
DESCRIPTION. — Shell morphology. Length 5 mm, width 3 mm (larger specimen examined). Shell fragile, oval to elongate (Fig. 26D). The widest region of the shell is near the posterior end. Body whorl large; spire very short, rounded, with 2 whorls. Suture channeled. Protoconch unknown. Aperture wide anteriorly, narrowing abruptly posteriorly. Outer lip joining the body whorl near the posterior end. Columella slightly twisted on the anterior end. Umbilicus closed. Sculpture of numerous spiral lines, composed of series of large, rounded to oval pits, clearly separated from each other (Fig. 26E). Colour white.
Anatomy. Unknown. All shells collected lacked soft parts.
REMARKS. — Bullina sp. differs in shell morphology from the other species here studied. In general shell outline it resembles Bullina nobilis Kuroda in Habe, 1950, with the widest region of the shell near the posterior end and a rounded spire, but it lacks the red colour pattern present in Bullina nobilis . Because of the bad state of preservation it is not possible determine whether these differences are a result of damage to the shells, so a new name will not be introduced for these specimens.
