Current status: Lixus professus Faust, 1885 is a valid species.

Type. In Faust’s collection at SMTD is a female mounted on a card, with the right funicle beyond its second segment, right fore and both middle and hind legs completely, and left fore legs beyond tibia, missing. It bears the handwritten labels: “[golden square]”, “Biskra, Bonnaire”, fits description with type locality as “Biskra”, and is here designated as lectotype and has been labeled “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus professus Faust, Gültekin des. 2008 ” ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 8 – 12. 8 ).

Remarks. This species is closely related to Lixus kraatzi Capiomont ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8 – 12. 8 ), but differs from it by the convex base of elytral interval 3, more curved female rostrum, shape of pronotum and of elytral apex.
