Cerithiopsis perversa Linné — Mayer 1864: 67.
Santa Maria material examined. Maximum height 3.2 mm, width 1.3 mm. DBUA-F 471-5 (1), Ponta do Castelo, Santa Maria Island, Azores, Touril Complex, Lower Pliocene.
Discussion. A single fragment of a triphorid species is present in the Santa Maria assemblages. It is missing the protoconch and neanic whorls so that the order of appearance of the spiral cords is difficult to assess. However, it seems that the middle cord might be the last to appear. Further classification is not possible.
Distribution. Lower Pliocene: Atlantic, Santa Maria Island, Azores ( Mayer 1864).
