Caloapenesia thailandiana Terayama, 1995: 883 , ♂. Holotype, ♂. THAILAND, Khao yai National park, Nakhon Ratchasima, 700–800 m, 18–24.IV.1990, E. Fuller leg. [PMAE].
This is one of the most common species of Caloapenesia in Thailand. However its specimens have shown few variations compared to the type series, such as the posterior margin of scutellar furrow not defined and the lateral carina of propodeal disc absent.
We observed some more features not included in the original description of Terayama (2004), which we describe now: head slightly longer than wide; eye median-sized, very salient; ocellus large; occipital carina illdefined; Notauli complete, slightly convergent; posterior margin of scutellar furrow straight; propodeal disc elongate; paramedian carina conspicuous; callus present; fovea shallow; hypopygium ( Fig.58 View FIGURES 51 – 58 ) 1.29 × as long as wide; posterior margin strongly trilobate; median lobe angulate, wide; lateral lobe rectangular, very short; lateral margin parallel; anterior pigmented line defined, slender; median stalk long; lateral stalk present, rectangular, conspicuous. Genitalia ( Figs 93–94 View FIGURES 86 – 94 ): aedeagus uniformly wide; apical margin of ventral paramere convex; dorsal paramere as wide as ventral one, glabrous; basivolsella excavated; inner margin of cuspis sinuous; genital ring long.
FEMALE unknown.
