Diagnosis. MALE. Clypeus preapically with transversely concave area. Mandible brown to lemon yellow on apical half except the dark teeth. Scape with one strong carina; flagellomere 1 distinctly shorter than flagellomere 2. Terga 1–4 posteriorly with apical fringe of pale setae. Sternum 2 without distinct lateral felt line, at most with a few microsetae. Volsellar cuspis apex with short sparse setae; penial valve apically distinctly swollen. Body black. Body length 7.0–10.0 mm. FEMALE unknown.

Distribution. China (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Taiwan).

Remarks. The male of T. taiwanus differs from that of T. friekae only by the lemon yellow preapical area of the mandible (brown in T. friekae ), and we regard it as a junior synonym of the latter.
