The report of its occurrence (sub Grimmia maritima ) in LAZ by Brizi (1897) is not reliable because it is not supported by a herbarium specimen. In addition, the distribution area of this species is limited to north-western Europe (Bremer 1980) and its presence in the central Apennines seems for the moment to be unlikely.
