Reported incorrectly by various authors for SIC.Actually,“ Insula Gozo, prope Sicilia, leg. Sommier, 1906 (G) ” is written on the holotype. It is well known that the Island of Gozo belongs to the independent Maltese archipelago; hence the species, at least in terms of strict national boundaries, cannot be ascribed to the Italian flora, although Malta is included in Italy by Flora Europea and in Red Data Book for threatened Bryophytes in Europe and Macaronesia ( Schumacker & Martiny 1995).
