Note. During preparation of the original description, the holotype of C. naumanni from Rwanda (deposited in the private collection of Lars Kühne, Potsdam-Badelsberg, Germany) remained not dissected ( Kühne 2005). Nevertheless, Mr Kühne kindly dissected it at my request and confirmed that it also has only two bunches of cornuti in its vesica.

Diagnosis. Forewing length is 10–11 mm in males. The species belongs to the subgenus Strigivulpecula Karisch, 2013 (Type species: Cyana rufeola Karisch & Dall’Asta, 2010) widespread in Afrotropics including Madagascar and the Comoro Islands and comprising seven valid species ( Karisch 2013). Despite the species’ unusual wing coloration and pattern ( Figs. 3–5 View FIGURES 1–8 ), the male genitalia of C. naumanni ( Figs. 11, 12 View FIGURES 9–12 ) is very similar to that of C. (Strigivulpecula) nemasisha ( Roesler, 1990) ( Figs. 6 View FIGURES 1–8 , 13 View FIGURES 13–15 ), but differ by its shorter cornuti of the distal diverticulum, stronger granulation of both diverticula, and the absence of a bunch of cornuti in the subbasal diverticulum.

Distribution. The species is known from Rwanda, Uganda and western Kenya ( Kühne 2005).
