Calliostoma Swainson, 1840 View in CoL . Type species (s.d. Herrmannsen 1846): Trochus conulus Linnaeus, 1758 [see Marshall (1995a) for further discussion].

Circumscription of subgenera within Calliostoma View in CoL remains an imprecise exercise lacking a phylogenetic context. Consequently I have refrained from assigning the South African species to subgenera.
