Type data: Holotype: Brazil. Ceará: Fortaleza , [–3.81059°, –38.53147°], 1 ♂ ( SMF RII 1493 /8. examined by photograph).
Diagnosis: Acantholibitia excelens differs from A. biocellata by having paramedian spots occupying laterals of areas I and II ( Fig. 16A View Figure 16 ). Differs from the other members of the genus by having paramedian spines in area IV longer than those of areas I and III ( Fig. 16A View Figure 16 ).
Distribution: Only known from its type locality, which is in the Caatinga ecoregion of Fortaleza City ( Ceará, Brazil, Fig. 10 View Figure 10 ).
