Key to subgenera of Polynema View in CoL in Australia and New Zealand (females)
1 Propodeum with a distinct elevation posteromedially (best observed in lateral view, Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1, 2 ); fore wing with dense discal setae originating just a little beyond apex of a relatively long marginal+stigmal vein ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7, 8 ); petiole strongly swollen basally but without lateral membranous flaps ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–6 )........................................ P. (Dorypolynema Hayat & Anis)
- Propodeum more or less in same plane along length, without an elevation posteromedially ( Figs 33 View FIGURE 33 , 36 View FIGURES 34–39 , 79 View FIGURE 79 , 108 View FIGURES 107–111 ); fore wing with dense discal setae originating either behind apex of submarginal vein or behind a relatively short marginal+stigmal vein ( Figs 69 View FIGURES 65–69 , 89 View FIGURES 88–90 , 128 View FIGURES 124–129 ); petiole cylindrical but basally with at least small lateral membranous flaps ( Figs 41 View FIGURES 40–43 , 67 View FIGURES 65–69 ) so in dorsal view appearing wider basally than apically................................ P. ( Polynema Haliday View in CoL ) ( draperi View in CoL species group)
