Type material. Holotype female [ ANIC] on slide ( Fig. 124 View FIGURES 124–129 ) labeled: 1. “ 14.49S 125.50E, Mining Camp, Mitchell Plateau, 9-19May 1983 WA I. D. Naumann, J. C. Cardale, ex yellow tray”; 2. “Mounted at UCR/ERM by V. V. Berezovskiy 2006 in Canada balsam ANIC ” GoogleMaps . Paratypes: same data as the holotype [5♀ on slides, ANIC (4), UCRC (1)]. The type locality is in Western Australia, Australia GoogleMaps .
Description. FEMALE (holotype). Body dark brown except petiole light brown; scape and pedicel light brown, flagellum brown; legs light brown. Head a little wider than high, smooth. Antenna ( Fig. 125 View FIGURES 124–129 ) with scape, excluding short radicle, 2.8× as long as wide, with cross-ridges; pedicel smooth, longer than F1 and 1.5× as long as wide; F1 the shortest and F2 the longest funiculars, F3 longer than F4 or F5, length to width ratios of funiculars: F1—2.4, F2—6.1; F3—5.2; F4—2.7; F5—2.6; F6—2.5, F6 with 1 mps; clava 2.7× as long as wide, a little longer than combined length of 2 preceding flagellomeres, with 7 mps. Mesosoma ( Fig. 126 View FIGURES 124–129 ) about 1.4× as long as wide, mostly smooth except mesoscutum with fine, transverse sculpture anteriorly; pronotum divided mediolongitudinally; mesoscutum wider than long, with notaular grooves; scutellum shorter than mesoscutum, with campaniform sensilla a little closer to anterior margin than to posterior margin and each closer to lateral margin of scutellum than to each other, and with frenal row of small foveae; propodeum with a short median carina extending from posterior margin for about quarter length. Fore wing ( Fig. 128 View FIGURES 124–129 ) 4.1× as long as wide; marginal vein with 2 dorsal macrochaetae; disc slightly infumate, densely setose beyond venation, the discal setae originating behind marginal vein; longest marginal seta about 0.9× greatest width of wing. Hind wing 28.5× as long as wide; disc slightly infumate, with a few setae; longest marginal seta 5.0× greatest width of wing. Metacoxa smooth, shorter than petiole. Petiole ( Fig. 129 View FIGURES 124–129 ) with small anterolateral “wings”. Ovipositor occupying entire length of gaster ( Fig. 127 View FIGURES 124–129 ), barely exserted beyond gastral apex, and 1.8× length of metatibia.
Measurements of the holotype (µm). Mesosoma: 308; gaster: 492; ovipositor: 492. Scape (minus radicle): 94; pedicel: 58; F1: 33; F2: 85; F3: 73; F4: 46; F5: 55; F6: 61; clava: 132. Fore wing: 861:209; longest marginal seta: 194. Hind wing: 683:24; longest marginal seta: 121.
Variation (paratypes). Pronotum and base of gaster sometimes light brown or brown. Scape, excluding radicle, 2.2–2.7× as long as wide, clava 2.6–2.8× as long as wide and sometimes about as long as or slightly shorter than combined length of F5 and F6, fore wing 4.0–4.3× as long as wide, longest marginal seta 0.7–1.0× greatest width of fore wing, petiole about 2.4× as long as wide, and ovipositor 1.6–1.7× length of metatibia, exserted beyond gastral apex by 0.05–0.11× its total length.
MALE. Unknown.
Diagnosis. Polynema princessa females are recognized by the following combination of features: scape with cross-ridges ( Fig. 125 View FIGURES 124–129 ), clava about as long, slightly longer or shorter than, combined length of F5 and F6, propodeum ( Fig. 126 View FIGURES 124–129 ) with a short, incomplete median carina extending from posterior margin for about quarter length, fore wing ( Fig. 128 View FIGURES 124–129 ) 4.0–4.3× as long as wide, and ovipositor occupying entire length of gaster ( Fig. 127 View FIGURES 124–129 ), and 1.6–1.8× length of metatibia.
Etymology. The species name is a noun in apposition; it means princess in Russian.
