Diagnosis. Palpus concave on subapicolateral surface (ch.9-1; Fig. 9C View FIGURE 9 ); abdominal sternite III widest among sternites (ch.23-1; Fig. 9E View FIGURE 9 ); sternite V with dense setulae on medial surface (ch.28-1; Fig. 9E View FIGURE 9 ); hypandrium asymmetric (ch.40-1; Fig. 9I View FIGURE 9 ); pregonite ( Fig. 9G View FIGURE 9 ) with neither basal extension (ch.49-0) nor sensilla on basal portion (ch.53-0); aedeagus without spiny ornamentation on outer membrane (ch.55-1; Fig. 9G View FIGURE 9 ); aedeagal sheath with only 1 anterior or 1 posterior, strongly sclerotized postgonite on each side ( Fig. 9H,I View FIGURE 9 ).
Shared characters. Dorsomedial, tentorial apodeme <3/5 basal, parallel portion of dorsolateral, tentorial apodeme (ch.1-1). Abdominal sternites III and IV wider than long (ch.22,24-1; Fig. 9E View FIGURE 9 ), with dense setulae on medial surface (ch.26,27-1; Fig. 9E View FIGURE 9 ). Setae on and/or near ventral margin of epandrium not denser than those on other portions (ch.32-0; Fig. 9F View FIGURE 9 ). Surstylus with peg-like teeth (ch.37-0). Pregonite with sensilla on submedial portion (ch.52-1). Sclerotized, posterior postgonites on aedeagal sheath medially separated from each other (ch.66-0).
Included species. Phortica (Ashima) glabra ; P. (A.) idiasta ; P. (A.) zhangyuanae ; and P. (A.) takehiroi sp. nov.
